Hello friends,
The Twin City Model Railroad Museum has delighted guests since 1934, and we've seen plenty of ups and downs over those years. We definitely didn't expect nearly two years of pandemic to impact our daily lives like it continues to do.
Revenue has been much lower than usual, but is starting to turn the corner. Thankfully we were able to secure COVID Relief Grants, loans and other support during the pandemic. Unfortunately, many of those programs are now ending.
Our museum expansion is underway and with every construction project comes unexpected expenses. For example, the Metropolitan Council has assessed the Museum $30,000 as a one-time fee for sewers. Our landlord has graciously offered to pay half, but the museum needs to pay our share.
Despite the challenges we are looking ahead! The Museum has to build for the future in order to be successful and be able to continue to operate. The museum expansion will offer new programs and exhibits, such as:
- A shop for working on layouts and models – this will help our Junior Engineer STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program effort to get children interested in technology careers.
- Additional space for new HO and N Scale layouts and other exhibits.
- Event rooms for hosting birthday parties and other occasions.
- An improved library to organize valuable books, videos and other media.
We know that many of you received our emails during Give to the Max and we continue to use those funds wisely on our expansion effort. We have deeply appreciated every donation we received and we don't take any request for support lightly.
You can be a founding partner for this new era of the museum with an End of Year donation to our non-profit Museum. Please help support this local landmark with a donation by December 31st!
