Big changes are underway at the museum we we want to show them off!

Despite the pandemic uncertainty our board had a one-time opportunity to expand the museum. We now have room for new layouts, birthday party space, conference rooms for small events and workshop and storage spaces to meet the needs of the museum.

Now we want to show all that off to you!! Please join us June 4th, 5th and 6th during regular museum hours for guided tours of the new spaces! We will also show concept images of our new entry area, gift shop and more as we kick off our summer fundraising effort as well. Enjoy refreshments on us during your visit.

Museum Additions Fundraising

With our new space comes new opportunities. We've worked with great partners to develop a museum interpretative plan to take the museum to a whole new level. Specifically to enhance the experience of all visitors, improve education for children and families, make it more fun and make it more professional.

The plan encouraged the following improvements that we are fundraising for this summer:

Finish the "Mini Sota" exhibit room layouts (seen above) and wall displays
Create professional signage for all layouts that provide more detail
Add education STEM exhibits including learning how the track and motors work, differences in "scale" and "gauge" and how to design and build your own LEGO train
Expand the children's play area with more hands-on layouts/tables
Expanding our Junior Engineer and pre-STEM programming
Create a more welcoming and exciting museum entry
Make front of house improvements for members and visitors
Enclose our back of house workshop for safety and fire protection

We will show some of these concepts during our open house and via these newsletters over the next few months. We hope to raise over $33,000 with the help of our visitors, members and potential grants.
