We have raised $28,535 - almost 85% of the Goal!

The Museum is raising money to take this local landmark to w whole new level. We are working to: enhance your experience, improve education for children, and make it more fun for you and your family by:
- Finishing the "Mini-sota" Gallery: O, HO and N Scale layouts and wall displays.
- Creating professional signage that provide more detail for all exhibits
- Adding educational STEM exhibits
- Expanding the children's play area with more hands-on layouts/tables.

- Increasing our Junior Engineer and pre-STEM programs.
- Improving the Gift Shop
- Enclosing the Museum’s workshop for safety and fire protection

TCMRM - model train hobby show / sale - Minnesota State Fairgrounds

Fall Hobby Show and Sale - September 17th from 9 - 2!

Next Saturday, the 17th, is our semi-annual Model Railroad Show and Hobby Sale at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.

Attractions: Operating train layouts in several scales! Over 200 tables of new and used model trains in every scale, plus antiques, collectibles, tools, books, videos, toys, buildings, magazines, artwork and more!

Four our young visitors: Engineer Paul will be doing story-time with kids at 10 am and 12:30.

New this year: The Blue Ox Provisions food truck will be selling delicious food, drinks and more!

Sale admission: $6.00 for ages 8 and up! Ages 7 and under are FREE!

Hours: 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Location: MN State Fairgrounds - Education Building. Enter from Snelling Avenue to Dan Patch Avenue and make your first right! Free parking all around the grounds but please follow parking signs.

September Guest Speaker - Nick Benson - September 24th at 10 am

The Museum's next speaker series event features railroad (and aviation) photographer Nick Benson!

Nick Benson of Burnsville, Minnesota has spent more time than he'd like to admit chasing and photographing trains around the Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota.

He'll be presenting some of his favorite photos and stories from his time spent trackside, documenting Griswold signals, passenger trains, bridges, and snow fighting operations.

The event will run 60 minutes with time for Q&A. Event is included with $10 Museum admission. Children 4 and under are free. Be sure to come early or stay late to enjoy the museum displays, the museum is open 10-3 on the 24th.

Spooky Trains Returns to kick off Night Trains Season!

Night Trains® season is a special Holidays tradition at the Twin City Model Railroad Museum. Spooky Trains will return on October 15th, 22nd and 29th!

What is Night Trains?

The museum’s collection of model trains of all scales and toy trains of yesteryear come alive throughout the Museum (Sorry, no real trains to board and ride on

!). Night Trains Season magic begins as the lights are turned down and the buildings and street lights glow warmly, setting the scene for specially lighted models of operating vintage passenger trains.

Hours and Admission
Every Saturday (Except Christmas Eve) from October 15, 2022 to February 25, 2023.

The event runs from 3:00pm to 7pm, tickets will be sold for 2 hour time blocks.

$15 per guest, kids under the age of 4 are free. Tickets may be purchased in advance at: tcmrm.eventbrite.com

Tickets will ONLY be sold at the door if we have not reached our capacity.

2022-2023 Special Evenings (more to be announced later)

Spooky Trains – October 15th, 22nd and 29th – See spooky trains and Halloween decorations on the layouts! Costumes are welcome! Treats will be handed out.

Santa Visits Night Trains - December 10th and 17th - its your chance to tell Santa what you want for Christmas and get pictures with him also. Included with admission!
