Every dollar you donate in August & September will be doubled!

The Twin City Model Railroad Museum is raising money to take the museum to a whole new level. We are working to enhance your experience, improve educational opportunities for the children in our community, and make it more fun for you and your family. And now, we are excited to announce that a Generous Donor has agreed to match dollar for dollar the next $10,000 in contributions! 

We have raised nearly 40% of the total – and we thank you for your support!

Our fundraising efforts are currently directed towards implementing the following improvements set out in the Museum’s formal interpretive plan: 

• Finish the "Mini-sota" Gallery - the O, HO and N Scale layouts and wall displays
• Create professional signage that provide more detail for all Exhibits
• Add education STEM Exhibits including learning how the track and motors work, "scale" vs, "gauge" and how to design and build your own LEGO train
• Expand the children's play area with more hands-on layouts/tables
• Expanding our Junior Engineer and pre-STEM programming
• Improve the Gift Shop
• Enclose the Museum’s construction workshop for safety and fire protection

Finish the "Mini-sota" Gallery and Exhibits                                        

HO Scale Layout - $2,500

N scale layout - $1,500

Trackwork bench work additional structures and scenery materials, 7 Wall exhibits in the room about model railroading and Railroads - $1,400 

Purchase signs for each Layout / Exhibit - $3,800

Purpose is to explain what's the exhibit is the scale the historical significance is why it is important to the participant / visitor.  Signs will feature our main layouts and several additional displays including the: O Scale layout, Circus, Lionel, American Flyer, Corrigan Lionel, Z Scale layout, G Scale and10 additional large signs and displays.

Expand the Children's Area - 4 additional play tables - $2,000 

Pre-STEM Science Technology Engineering Mathematics - $7,500           

 Get children interested in Technology and Science, being creative, working with their hands,  understanding why this is important, and career opportunities. Project will include preparing  materials, creating and installing a display, kiosks and a video, and continuing to improve  our Junior Engineer program - additional materials and manuals.

Museum Entrance Improvements - $7,300

Computer kiosk for members to access member information.

Install PA system for emergency notifications and music.

Gift Shop – 12 additional shelves for the store to help generate revenue and provide discount trains for visitors.

Enclose the shop - $5,000

Make safety, fire protection improvements to prevent damage to models and artifacts.
