Twin City Model Railroad Museum Celebrates 90 Years!
Saint Paul (May 2024) - The Twin City Model Railroad Museum (TCMRM) is celebrating its 90th anniversary beginning this month with special events throughout the year! During its nine-decade history in Saint Paul the museum has honored the love of toy trains and model railroading through ever-improving layouts and
exhibits.
First started in May of 1934 as a work shop club in a house on St. Paul’s Ashland Avenue, the museum has since called local landmarks like the Saint Paul Union Depot and Bandana Square home. In their latest “station” at 668 Transfer Road, Suite 8 in St. Paul the museum houses 13,000 square feet of interactive toy train layouts, LEGO® displays
children’s play tables, model railroad history exhibits, a “Train Doctor”, birthday party rooms, gift shop and more.
The museum is open Monday and Friday 10 am-3 pm, Saturday 10 am-5 pm and Sunday noon-5pm. Regular museum rates are $10 for adults, children 4 and under are always free.
Hobby Show and Sale – May 11th
The first big event of the anniversary year is a model railroad hobby show and sale at the Minnesota State Fair’s Education Building on May 11th from 9 am-2 pm. The show will feature vendors selling all scales of model trains, railroad ephemera, clothing, hobby tools, toys
and more. Local railroad celebrity “Engineer Paul” will do story time for little railfans as well. Admission to this event is $7 for adults, and free for visitors 7 and under.
