The Museum is excited to announce that we are the winners of the “Vote of Confidence Award” in the 26th annual St. Paul Heritage Preservation Awards announced May 17th in St. Paul.

The Heritage Preservation Commission of the City of Saint Paul and the Saint Paul Chapter of the American Institute of Architects co-sponsors the annual Saint Paul Heritage Preservation Awards to recognize projects, individuals and organizations that enhance and celebrate Saint Paul’s cultural resources. The 2016 awards were announced as part of a month-long celebration during National Preservation Month in May.

The award recognizes the 82 year history of the club and museum in St. Paul and the hundreds of dedicated volunteers that have worked tirelessly to preserve the hobby of model railroading and specifically the role that trains have played in the development of St. Paul. As part of the diverse cultural heritage of the city the museum is excited to continue that legacy with the recent reopening of the museum in a new facility.

Museum Construction Update

If you haven't been in since our reopening, or its been a couple weeks, you have missed a lot of changes!

The famous two rail layout of the Twin Cities has seen great progress made by our volunteers. Many of the buildings are back on and the backdrop pieces are starting to be reattached! We have trains running on two mainlines and hope to have the others running soon. This is MUCH faster then we could have ever imagined. Our volunteers rock!

We have set up several more train layouts including the highly detailed Lionel layout from our toy train division. We are changing its configuration a bit to make it easier to see the middle of the layout. It used to be a u-shaped layout and it is now more of an L-shape.
